CRT commemorates DAC in a cordial partnership

CRT commemorates DAC in a cordial partnership with other CSOs in Morogoro For its first time since it inception, Community Reach Tanzania (CRT) has had a treasury opportunity to join hands with other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to commemorate the international Day of African Child (DAC) held on 16th June, 2023  at Mvomero Village, Morogoro in Tanzania. During this year’s commemoration, children aired out different issues that compromise their rights. These  include inadequate access to health services, clean and safe water, and early childhood education and development. Children also raised such issues as violence against children, gender based violence against children, early pregnancies, and forced marriages. For instance, during the year 2022, Mvomero district recorded a total of 15 cases of early pregnancies for girl children who are still pursuing basic education. On the other hand, during the year 2022/23, the district managed to save 13 children from forced marriages. In Mvomero district, forced marriage is more common in pastoralist communities within Dakawa, Lubungo, Melela, Mangae, Doma, and Msongozi Wards.  To respond to concerns that children raised during this DAC,  Community Reach Tanzania aspires, among other things, to impact the poor, vulnerable, and marginalised children in all aspects of their rights including the right to health services and education.  Every year Africa commemorates the Day of African Child on the 16th June to recognize and protect rights of children. Additionally, the international DAC provides children with opportunity to know their rights including the right to life, right to protection, right to participation and expression. Furthermore, the Day of African Child (DAC) commemoration raises awareness on issues affecting children such as early pregnancies, forced marriages, worst forms of labour, and violence against children. Moreover, organisations, the Government, parents or/and guardians, as well as communities, use the Day of African Child platform to promote equatable access to quality education for all children.
